Resource-efficient processing of residues in connection to short fiber pulp production

Birch bark is a residue from the forest industry containing a variety of different compound with their individual properties and characteristics. All of the components are interesting for development of new biobased materials.
Reselo have developed a process suited to isolate these compounds and the first material in the portfolio has rubber characteristics and therefore called Reselo Rubber.
This project aims to investigate the benefits and opportunities to build a production facility in connection to current infrastructure and a supply of at least 20 000 ton birch bark annually. The project goals are grouped as follows:
- Cost efficient process design
- Investigation and evaluation of the supply chain
- Positioning in the regulatory landscape
- Local impact on society and environment
The results gained from the project are expected to have a large impact on the future strategy and commercialization. Achievements include a deeper understanding of the cost drivers in the supply chain and how to adopt the customer value proposition for an accelerated implementation process of Reselo Rubber in everyday products.
