The project aims to develop knowledge and strategies for sector coupling between bio-based systems and variable electricity production. It explores integrating bio-methane production via biomass gasification with flexible operation of electrolysis and e-methane synthesis. Focus is on short operating cycles and part-load: by linking e-methane production to electricity price fluctuations and grid services, renewable power can be used efficiently while converting biogenic CO? into fuel. The challenge is to understand how dynamic operation affects technology, climate benefits, and system integration. A collaboration between Lund University and Bioshare AB, the results will support a robust fossil-free energy system through flexibility, resource efficiency, and sector integration. A policy brief and scientific publications will share findings with industry, academia, and policymakers.
